Today, I’m going to talk about how you can continue to motivate yourself.
今日は、どのようにして自分のやる気を保ち続けるかのお話をします。
I often request my clients/students to study English every day regardless of their motivation.
私はクライアントさんや生徒さんに、「英語の勉強はやる気の有無に関わらず、毎日やってくださいね」とよくお伝えしています。
But this doesn’t mean that motivation is not important.
でもこれはやる気が重要じゃないという意味ではありません。
Actually, it is quite opposite. Motivation is important to continue to study English.
実際には、全く逆です。やる気は英語学習を続ける上では重要です。
In order to keep you motivated, it is necessary to have some kind of a reward.
やる気を継続させる為には、報酬のようなものが必要です。
Therefore, it may be more beneficial to focus on what you can gain from studying than thinking about your motivation.
なので、やる気について考えるよりも、学習から何が得られるのかにフォーカスする方が役に立つかもしれません。
And, one of the greatest rewards you can gain would be FUN!
そして、最も素敵な報酬の一つは、「楽しさ」でしょう。
When you are doing something you like, you experience FUN.
あなたが好きなことをしている時、あなたは楽しくなりますよね。
That’s why it is quite reasonable to link your study with what you love.
ですから、あなたの学習をあなたの大好きなことと結びつけることはとても理にかなっているんです。
I teach English through reading one of my students’ (and of course my) favorite books.
私は生徒さん（もちろん私も）の好きな本を読むことを通して、英語を教えています。
The book is not written for ESL students, but for native English speakers. And even they have difficulty understanding some of the contents.
その本は、英語学習者向けに書かれたものではなく、ネイティブスピーカー向けに書かれています。そしてネイティブスピーカーですら内容を理解するのが難しい箇所もあります。
Therefore, in the first year or so, beginner students have a lot of trouble reading the book.
ですから、最初の1年くらいは、初心者はその本を読むのがとても難しいのです。
But, as they really want to understand the contents, they try hard and eventually, it becomes not so hard for them to read it.
でも、内容を理解したいという思いが強いので、生徒さんは一生懸命頑張ります。そしてやがて、その本を読むのがそれほど大変では無くなって来るのです。
Your “LOVE” or ”PASSION” IS really important.
あなたの大好きなことや情熱は、本当に重要なんです。
What do you like doing? What do you enjoy doing?
あなたの好きなことって何ですか？楽しんでやっていることって何ですか？
